Spring has finally sprung

As the saying goes around here, "If you don't like the weather, wait five minutes." This is especially true in the March-May time frame. The weather can be very unpredictable and while on average, the temperature isn't much different from Salt Lake, Spring does always seem to take a while to get going in these parts. We were tempted in January and February with a pretty mild winters. A couple of good snow storms, but for most the winter we were on pace to set a new record for lack of snowfall. After a 70 degree day in January (a very welcome fluke) and a few nice days in a row in March we were all ready for Spring. Unfortunately, Winter was not ready to release his claws and we had to suffer through some cold wet weather.

Finally the end of last week Spring began and looks like it is here to stay. This of course means that the New Englanders come out of hibernation and start socializing, doing yard work, repairing winter damage, and the like. It also means that after 5 months of being cooped inside Grace is ready to get outside and play. We have played soccer, taken the dogs on walks, built a fire and roasted hot dogs. We have also being able to take out the bike trailer and enjoy some nice trails around our house. Of course Grace is getting old enough to want to ride on her own and she says that she is ready to move up from her tricycle to a bicycle. She is going to have to practice and build up her legs though. We went out the other day and she insisted on riding her trike to Crow Island. After just over a 1/2 mile she was done. Her little legs could go no more. She was a trooper though and so I had to reward her with a ride back home. Oh, I love Spring.
